Nancy Campbell Mead

Nancy Campbell Mead is a retired judge living with her husband and dog in Depoe Bay, Oregon. Nancy graduated from Lewis and Clark Northwestern College of Law in 1979, where she was on Law Review. She was in private practice as an attorney in Portland and Tigard from 1979 to 1988. During that time she also served on the Planning Commission and Budget Committee for the City of Tigard. Nancy was appointed to the Washington County District Court in 1988, and served in that capacity, then as a Circuit Court Judge until July, 2006 when she retired. After retirement, Nancy continued working part time throughout the state of Oregon as a Senior Judge. Currently, Nancy serves on the Advisory Board of TransActive Education and Advocacy, an internationally recognized non-profit focused on serving the diverse needs of transgender and gender nonconforming (GNC) children, youth, their families and allies. Nancy is also one of the founders and current President of the Central Oregon Coast Chapter of NOW (National Organization for Women). Nancy is an avid cyclist; in 2010 she rode her bike across the United States from Bandon, Oregon to Yorktown, Virginia. She also enjoys hiking. She travels extensively, including frequent trips to Colorado and New York to visit children and grandchildren, going to Mexico for the month of February every year, and trips overseas every two or three years.
